Tao Yuanming, a famous scholar in the Eastern Jing Dynasty and also a significant figure in the history of literature, is honored as the earliest ancestor of hermit poet and the originator of pastoral poetry. Poems like Drink and The Peach Blossom Spring are significant and well-known pieces. Through combining poetry with wine and making expression through drinking wine, the poet expresses his perspective towards the past and the reality to further present his dissatisfaction towards the reality and his love for the pastoral life. This poem represents the poet’s noble sentiment and his attitude about seclusion.
In 1992, Wang Dongling lived for a while in Zheng Shengtian’s house in Mission, which is a small distant town from Vancouver with fine view of mountains and rivers. That was when Wang wrote this piece and gave it to Zheng as a present. In this art piece, along with the rhythm of the poem, the writer’s unstrained nature of mind is revealed under his free and easy brushstroke. The writing process is like a conversation spanning centuries and is further a tribute to the sage.
陶渊明，东晋名士，文学巨匠，被誉为“隐逸诗人之宗”、“田园诗派之鼻祖”。《饮酒》、《桃花源记》都是十分重要的传世佳作。作者以酒寄意，诗酒结合，表达了对历史及现实的所思所感，寄托了对现实的不满和对田园生活的喜爱，充分表现了作者高洁的情操和安于隐逸的生活情趣。
1992年王冬龄曾在温哥华远郊依山傍水的小镇美臣（Mission）郑胜天家小住。写下这一作品馈赠主人。作品本身笔法轻盈洒脱，曲折婉转处韵律十足，书者自由的心性在不羁的笔触下熠熠生辉，仿佛书写过程是一场跨越千年的对话，更是对先贤的致敬！
